Allays reports that Saudis midwifed Sharifs’ release

The Pakistan Tehreek- eInsaf ( PTI) led government has made it clear that it will not offer any deal to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The Islamabad high court Wednesday suspended the jail sentences of Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Capt ( retd) Muhammad Safdar in the Avenfield corruption case and they were released from the Adiala Prison in Rawalpindi.

The Islamabad high court's verdict, ordering the release of the trio coincided with Prime Minister Khan's visit to Saudi Arabia, giving rise to speculation that the Sharif family members' release was a result of the Saudis' request, the Dawn newspaper reported.

Federal minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry on said that former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz ( PML- N) supremo Nawaz Sharif “is not that important that he would have been discussed in Saudi Arabia ( during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit).”

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said that the government would not let Nawaz Sharif go abroad, adding his sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz and former finance minister Ishaq Dar would be brought back to Pakistan.

The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan does not believe in any deal, and no concession will be given to Sharif at any cost.

Mr Chaudhry went on to say that the looted money of Pakistan will be retrieved back, adding that no foreign country asked for the release of Nawaz Sharif. “Whatever the discripencies are in Nawaz Sharif ’ s case would be removed,” Mr Chaudhry said and added the ex-Prime Minister’s case has not ended as he was only released on bail.

The minister said: “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have assured to support each others, during PM Imran Khan’s two- days officials visit.” Nawaz
