BJP’s Tiwari lashes out at Kejri on sealing drive
Lashing out at the AAP for challenging the BJP to hold an open debate on the ongoing sealing drive, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Tuesday said that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was playing cheap and dirty politics on the contentious issue, which caused suffering to a larger section of the people.
Earlier in the day, Mr Tiwari was appeared before the apex court in pursuance to the contempt notice issued to him for allegedly breaking the seal of a premises, which was being run in violation of the Delhi Master Plan. Mr Tiwari told this newspaper that since last ten months Delhi BJP seriously working hard to save Delhiites from sealing.
“In an attempt to provide relief to the people, we went to Mr Kejriwal’s residence where he and his people manhandled us. BJP attended all party meeting called by Mr Kejriwal. BJP leadership held several meeting with union urban development minister Hardeep Singh Puri. It’s only due to our efforts, the amendments in the Delhi Master Plan was done, which is awaiting court approval. We are sincerely working day and night to bring relief to the people, while Mr Kejriwal and Congress playing cheap and dirty politics,” Mr Tiwari added.
Mr Tiwari claimed that the Supmere Court appointed monitoring panel is misusing court orders on sealing by adopting pick and choose policy.
“The monitoring committee failed to act in several areas. Why the committee did not taking any action against illegal construction in Okhla and some other areas,” asked Mr Tiwari.
On the other hand, convener of the AAP trade wing, Brajesh Goel challenges Mr Tiwa- ri for debate to find out ‘ who is responsible for sealing’ on September 26, 3 pm at Town Hall in Chandni Chowk. Referring to challenge, Mr Kejriwal tweeted, “Looking forward to this debate. Such public debates are essential for democracy.”
