Taking a stern action against laxity by the local police in the sensationa­l murder of a 34- year- old man in Taimur Nagar, the Deputy commission­er of police, Southeast district, on Tuesday have sent two inspector along with SHO to district line and suspended three constables. DCP ( southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said, based upon the preliminar­y findings of a vigilance enquiry conducted by Addl DCP ( southeast) to look into the alleged lapses by local police in the context of murder of Rupesh, resident of Taimur Nagar on Sunday which resulted in law and order problem, SHO Sushil Kumar and Division Officer SI Rajender have been sent to District Lines while beat officers HC Ajay, Ct Surender and Ct Hari Chand have been placed under suspension. Earlier on Monday, Mr Biswal said a vigilance enquiry was ordered by joint CP to be conducted by Addl DCP to look into lapses, omissions and commission­s by the local police. The accused persons will soon be arrested and no one would be spared irrespecti­ve of anything, said the police. The deceased, who was killed allegedly by the drug mafia in Delhi, was watching his son and nephew play when two unidentifi­ed men shot him. New Delhi: Four suspected bookies were arrested for allegedly taking bets during the Asia Cup Final cricket match between India and Bangladesh in southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area, the police said on Tuesday. The accused persons were identified as Sandeep Kumar alias Sonu ( 33), Harish Kumar ( 35), Naveen Kumar ( 31) and Harvinder Singh ( 34), they said. “On the intervenin­g night of Friday and Saturday, the police received informatio­n regarding a cricket betting racket being active in Lajpat Nagar area. At around 1 am when the Asia Cup Final was being played between India and Bangladesh, the police laid a trap and conducted raid at an apartment,” Deputy Commission­er of Police ( southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said. During the raid, four people were arrested while they were taking bets on mobile phones, he said. “During interrogat­ion, the accused persons disclosed that they all are known to each other and were in business of property constructi­on and dealing,” Mr Biswal said.
