CBI pushes for Nirav’s immediate extradition
A day after the Enforcement Directorate ( ED) attached assets worth
` 637 crore of absconding Nirav Modi, the CBI has now decided to intensify its effort for early execution of pending extradition request against the prime accused in the multi- crore Punjab National Bank ( PNB) scam by the authorities concerned in the United Kingdom.
Sources said, “The CBI, which has so far registered several FIRs in the PNB scam, has now intensified its effort for immediate execution of pending extradition request against Nirav Modi. The agency, through diplomatic channel, is in touch with the authorities concerned in the UK in this regard”.
Authorities concerned in the UK recently confirmed that fugitive diamantaire is in their territory following which the CBI had moved an extradition request against Nirav Modi, they added.
The Indian High Commission in London has already handed over the official request to extradite Nirav Modi to the UK authorities.
Earlier, India had sent three Letters Rogatory ( LRs) related to the PNB scam, lodged by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to the UK seeking assistance in its investigation against Nirav Modi and others. Nirav Modi
