Singer attacked with paper balls

Artistes condemn audience’s act ■

In what has been widely condemned by the artiste community, some miscreants pelted paper balls and small stones on popular Bollywood singer Shaan when he started singing a Bengali number at a function here at Sarusajai stadium on Sunday evening.

The act made Shaan angry who not only faced the audience boldly but also appealed not to carry such divisive mindset. “India is one and we should not hold qualms against any language,” the singer said

Noted singer Shaan, known for his several hits in Bollywood, addressing the audience said that he was performing despite fever and that he would not perform further if people behave in such a manner.

The singer picked up the materials thrown on him from the unruly audences and said “Learn to respect a performer, we don’t like it go away”.

After the incident visibly angry Shaan left the stage but soon returned at the request of organisers, said an audience who was present at the show.

It was not know whether the organisers have lodged any complaint in connection

However, videos showing a section of audience resorting to vandalism have become viral on the social media.

The incident has been condemned by various quarter as the event manager also regretted the incident.
