ALVAREZ SHOWS OFF NEW LOOK
Canelo Alvarez has revealed a brand new haircut as he steps up preparations for his December fight with Rocky Fielding, according to the Daily Mail.
The multiple- time world champion’s trademark flaming red hair — which earned him his nickname, meaning cinnamon in Spanish — has gone and he is now sporting a shaven look as his latest training camp begins.
Alvarez will take on Fielding at Madison Square Garden on December
15 looking to win the WBA super- middleweight title, after unifying the middleweight division by ending Gennady Golovkin’s unbeaten record in September.
Despite stepping up a weight class, Alvarez is the favourite to beat Liverpudlian Fielding.
The Mexican is training for the fight in San Diego and posted a video of his latest workout on Instagram.
He can be seen practising his right uppercut and a couple of left- arm jabs, although it is the change in his haircut that catches your eye.
Alvarez has spoken about his delight at fighting in New York previously and continued to talk himself up as the best pound- forpound fighter in the world.
‘ I look forward to exploring this division against current WBA world champion Rocky Fielding,’ he told Sky Sports earlier this month.
‘ I will be representing the WBC as its current middleweight world champion as I continue demonstrating to the world that I am the best pound- for- pound fighter in the world.
‘ It has always been a desire of mine to fight in New York, and where better than at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden.’
