Youth stabbed to death by friend after Diwali scuffle

A 19 year old youth was stabbed to death allegedly by his friend on Thursday after a scuffle broke out between the two over a petty issue in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpu­ri.

The deceased, Dipak, alias Balli, was a resident of the area and the accused, Yogesh, has been arrested, the police said.

“When the police reached the spot, it learnt that Dipak was stabbed with a knife by his neighbour Yogesh ( 19). During investigat­ion, the police found that a minor scuffle broke out between Dipak and Yogesh Wednesday night over a petty issue which was later settled,” deputy commission­er of police ( northwest) Aslam Khan said.

At around 11.40 am on Thursday, the accused allegedly attacked the victim and stabbed him in the chest with a knife and fled from the spot, he said.

According to the police, the scuffle erupted after the deceased, Dipak, refused to take accused

Yogesh for shopping on his motorcycle as it was Diwali and he wanted to spend time with his family.

“We got a police control room call at around 12.15 pm informing about a person being stabbed. A team was rushed to the spot and

Dipak was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival,” said Mr Khan.

During interrogat­ion, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed that the two were friends.
