Assam to probe newborns’ deaths

Guwahati: The death of at least 18 infants in Jorhat Medical College and Hospital in past 10 days has created panic and anger among the residents, prompting the state health department to order a probe into the incident. Informing that the director of medical education would be heading the probe, the state government sources said that a representative of Unicef ( United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) also visited the hospital on Saturday to take stock of the situation.
