NUKE- CAPABLE AGNI- 5 ONCE AGAIN TESTED SUCCESSFUL­LY

India on Monday successful­ly test- fired its indigenous­ly developed nuclear- capable longrange ballistic missile Agni- 5 off Odisha coast.

The surface- to- surface missile was launched at 1.30 pm from the Integrated Test Range ( ITR) at Abdul Kalam Island at Dhamra of Bhadrak district in the Bay of Bengal. The missile jointly developed by the Strategic Forces Command and DRDO can strike with a range between 5,000 km and 8,000 km.

It is the most advanced with new technologi­es in terms of navigation and guidance, warhead and engine. Agni- 5 is capable of carrying nuclear or traditiona­l warhead of about 1.5 tonnes.
