Rahul like Alibaba, says BJP leader

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

0aking serious allegations, the BJP on Monday alleged that the money trail of bribes goes to Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s bank account and likened him to Alibaba surrounded by 40 thieves.

BJP spokesperson Mr. Sambit Patra cited a news report claiming that Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra rented their premises to a man accused of corruption. The BJP’s attack came a day after Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were accused, in a media report, of renting out their sprawling 4.69- acre Delhi farmhouse to a firm allegedly involved in market irregularities, at a rent of ` 6.7 lakh per month.

Mr Sambit Patra said, “There have been so many corruption scams and scandals in his reign. He surely is a scamster — Alibaba — and these people are his chaalis chor. And yet they talk about how Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been faring in curbing corruption.” Mr Patra further said the BJP had come to know there was indeed a lavish farmhouse in Delhi’s Mehrauli in the name of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi that they had rented out on a hefty amount.

Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s frequent reference to PM Narendra Modi as ‘ chowkidar’, Patra said that Gandhi was, in fact, the ‘ Alibaba’ who kept drawing money from the ‘ scamster’.

He referred to Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in the ` 3600 crore AgustaWestland case as ‘ Alibaba’s mama’.

Earlier on Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party accused Congress of “threatening” investigation agencies following raids against people linked to Robert Vadra, Cong chief Rahul Gandhi’s brother- in- law, and asserted they would continue to act against those involved in corruption irrespective of their family background.
