In a suspected case of gang rivalry, a 45- year- old woman was shot dead allegedly by two bikeborne armed assailants at her residence in Dwarka district on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Kamlesh.

The police said that she was a widow and was living with her live- in partner, who is apparently in jail in a murder case. Prima facie it is suspected that the woman was shot dead by her partner’s rivals for revenge.

The police said the incident took place at 10 am, when the deceased was returning home after dropping her kid at school. Two bike- borne men wearing helmet stopped their vehicle outside the residence of the woman and barged into the house. Subsequently, the accused opened fire at her and fled from the spot, a senior police officer said.

Her maid was inside the house when the incident took place. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital.

However, she succumbed to her injuries and was declared brought dead by the doctor. Investigations revealed that Kamlesh used to stay with her livein partner, Monu Pochanpur, who is currently lodged in jail in a murder case.

The officer said Monu and his associate had killed Sandeep Mental, a gangster, following fallout over a property dispute.

A case has been registered and the matter is being probed.

As part of the investigation, police scanned through the CCTV footage of the incident. Following this, the two accused were identified.

Police said raids are being conducted in Delhi and adjoining state of Haryana to trace the accused persons.
