A 28- year- old woman was shot by her husband after an altercation took place between the couple in Mahipalpur area in Southwest Delhi on Monday morning.

The police said that efforts are being made to nab the accused husband while the woman is undergoing treatment and is said to be stable.

According to the police, the incident took place around 8.30 am, when Kavita Kumari ( 28), who had been staying at her parents’ house in Mahipalpur for the past several months, was returning home after dropping her two kids at school. It was further alleged that Kavita’s husband, Harkesh Kumar, who is a property dealer by profession and lives in Gurgaon, intercepted her near her parent’s house and got into an argument. “Harkesh turned aggressive during the argument. He took out a pistol and fired a shot at Kavita. She sustained a bullet injury on her shoulder. Subsequently, he fled from the spot. The locals called the police and rushed Kavita to a nearby hospital, where she is undergoing treatment,” said DCP Devender Arya.
