The Enforcement Directorate recently sought information through the West Bengal government from two IPS officers of deputy commissioner rank in the Kolkata police over its probe in a ponzi scam by the Rose Valley Group.

This comes amid a tussle between the Centre and the Mamata Banerjee government over the CBI ’ s heat on Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar in the multi- crore Saradha chit fund scam.

The ED sought information on some Rose Valley scam- related matters through the state home secretary from DC ( special task force) Murlidhar Sharma and DC ( southeast division) Kalyan Mukherjee.

New Delhi, Feb. 6: The tenures of two senior IPS officers — Anish Prasad and Abhay Singh — at the Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI) have been curtailed, according to a Personnel Ministry order issued Wednesday.

Prasad, a 2003 batch IPS officer of Tripura cadre, was reportedly at the centre of controversy involving the CBI’s two former top officers — ex- chief Alok Kumar Verma and the then Special Director Rakesh Asthana.

Both Verma and Asthana had accused each other of corruption. Verma was removed from the post of CBI Director on January 10. Prasad, who is at present Deputy Director ( Administration) in the central probe agency’s headquarters here, had earlier worked in the surveillance unit of the Central Bureau of Investigation, officials said.
