Trinamul MLA shot dead at a puja event

Trinamul Congress ( TMC) MLA Satyajit Biswas was shot dead by gang of miscreants at a Saraswati Puja event on Saturday in Nadia of West Bengal, an incident added fuel to the raging fire over political violence in the state ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

The murder of the ruling party MLA, the first during CM Mamata Banerjee’s tenure, prompted the ruling party to point an accusing finger toward the BJP which denied the allegation, claiming that the Krishnaganj legislator may have become a victim of internal feud.

There was chaos at the venue soon after Biswas was shot in the chest and shoulder by the assailants around 8.30 pm in Phulbari area while he was getting down from the dais. He died on way to hospital.
