PIL in SC seeking population control

New Delhi: Asserting that population explosion is the root cause for all the problems of the country, a PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court for a direction to the Centre to enforce the two- child norm for contesting elections, government jobs, aids and subsidies. In his writ petition, advocate and social activist Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay urged the court to direct the Centre to enact a law for enforcing the two- child norm in line with China’s Population Control Law to control Population Explosion; formulate policies with a vision to encourage and reward the families, who are voluntaril­y adhering to twochild norm.
