Kargil simmers over Ladakh move
Srinagar: The government’s decision to create a separate administrative and revenue division for Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh has not been received fully favourably by political parties and activists in Kargil area of the landlocked region. On Saturday, an all- party meeting was held in the district headquarters of the predominantly Shia district at which it was unanimously decided that all the democratically elected members of various official bodies including the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council ( LAHDC), Kargil will resign enmass if Kargil and Leh are not made the headquarters of the newly carved out division for six months on rotational basis. The governor’s administration had on Friday while approving creation of a separate administrative and revenue division for the Ladakh region said that the new Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police for Ladakh will remain permanently stationed in Leh.
