Dhillon commander of Chinar Corps
Srinagar: Lt. Gen. Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon on Saturday replaced Lt. Gen. AK Bhatt as the 48th commander of the Army’s Srinagarbased 15 Corps which is also called Chinar Corps. Earlier a “befitting” farewell was given to Lt. Gen Bhatt who has moved to New Delhi as military secretary at the Army headquarters. A defence spokesman here said that Lt. Gen. Bhatt’s tenure saw many successful operations in which a record number of 259 militants including top commander were killed in one year ( 2018). He said, “His tenure saw neutralising of the highest number of terrorists in a year over a decade, wherein 259 terrorists were eliminated and other 64 local terrorists were neutralised through apprehensions and surrenders” Lt. Gen. Dhillon was commissioned in December 1983 and has had an illustrious military career spanning 35 years.
