■ Have you been planning to buy a new computer? Then, you might have come across the term Solid State Drives or SSDs in short. SSDs are the next generation of Hard Disk drives. But is it worth it?

■ SSDs have been around for a while now, and if you have a modern laptop, it’s likely that the laptop uses an SSD.

■ As the name suggests, a SSD – unlike a traditional hard drive – has no moving parts.

■ Modern technology allows SSDs to have more NAND chips than ever, which means SSDs can have capacities similar to HDDs.

■ While SSDs are faster, more robust and more power- efficient, HDDs are more affordable – especially when it comes to larger capacities.
