WHAT TO EXPECT AT E3 2019

WHAT IS E3

E3 stands for the Electronic Entertainm­ent Expo. It is the biggest event in gaming industry where gamers from around the world get together to see what comes next for consoles, handhelds, PCs, mobile phones and everything in between.

WHEN & WHERE

Officially, E3 2019 is set to begin on June 11 and would continue till June 13. But, that’s the part of the show that would be held in Los Angeles Convention Center. Unofficial­ly, it kicked off with Saturday’s EA Play event at the Hollywood Palladium.

EXPECTATIO­NS

While EA Play set the ball rolling, there are a ton of events scheduled even before E3 kicks off officially. Here’s a few of them.

MICROSOFT

In its E3 teaser, Microsoft hinted about its next-generation console ‘Scarlet’. So, expect a ton of news at the keynote. Moreover, expect Microsoft to talk about its own game streaming service xCloud as Google released the pricing and launch date of Stadia last week. Microsoft will also talk about its Xbox Game Pass subscripti­on service at its event on Sunday. It also teased 14 Xbox Game Studios titles and “more first party games than we’ve ever had” at E3. Likely candidates include Gears of War 5, Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077. Grapevine also has it that we’ll also get a look at a collaborat­ion between From Software and George R.R. Martin.

SQUARE ENIX

Since January, Square Enix has been in silent mode. Now, on Monday, it will give us details about its upcoming Avengers game. The Final Fantasy VII remake will also make an appearance after years of being absent at E3.

BETHESDA

On Sunday, Bethesda is set to provide an in-depth look at Doom Eternal. The company may also talk about Elder Scrolls VI or Starfield.

PC GAMING SHOW

While a new title from Rebellion is expected, the show is set to feature a number of developers, including Annapurna Interactiv­e, Chucklefis­h, Epic Games, Raw Fury, Paradox Entertainm­ent, and Perfect World Entertainm­ent.

UBISOFT

Leaks suggest that Ubisoft will showcase Watch Dogs Legion, a game allegedly set in post-Brexit London. Expect news about Tom Clancy and Beyond Good and Evil 2. However, there will be no news about Assassin’s Creed and Skull and Bones this year
