Akshay Kumar at 4th place in Forbes highest-paid actor list
Top spot for Dwayne with $89.4m: Forbes
Los Angeles: With an earning figure of $65 million, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has beaten Hollywood biggies like Bradley Cooper, Chris Evans and Will Smith to secure fourth place in Forbes’ annual list of world’s highest paid actors.
Only Dwayne Johnson ($89.4 million), Chris Hemsworth ($76.4 million) and Robert Downey Jr. ($66 million) have more earnings than Akshay.
Akshay is currently riding high on the success of his latest release Mission Mangal which has crossed `100 crore mark at the box office. The outlet reported that Akshay pulls in “at least $5 million and up to $10 million per film”. He gets million through his endorsement of over 20 brands, including Tata and Harpic.
All earnings of the actors were calculated between the period of June 1, 2018, and June 1, 2019. After Akshay, legendary actor Jackie Chan is placed at fifth with $58 million haul, followed by Cooper and Adam Sandler at sixth with $57 million each.
Evans, who appeared alongside Cooper, Downey Jr and Hemsworth in summer blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, secured eighth place in the list. Paul Rudd and Smith were placed at the ninth and tenth positions, respectively.
Johnson, who is a former professional wrestler, was placed second in both of the last two years.
The prolific actor, 47, scored a major hit with family-friendly reboot Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle — a sequel is on the way — and has starred in multiple Fast and Furious films including this month’s Hobbs & Shaw.
“He has just become the go-to bankable star,” said Comscore analyst Paul Dergarabedian. “And he’s always working — he’s relentless.”
Using his A-list clout to secure lucrative profitsharing movie deals on top of eight-figure fees, Johnson also appears on HBO television show Ballers, hosts NBC game show Titan Games and has his own lucrative line of fitness clothing, among other endorsements.
