Radha Mohan tells Delhi BJP to conduct impartial, fair polls

- SHASHI BHUSHAN

BJP’s head of organisational polls and former Union minister Radha Mohan Singh has directed the party’s Delhi unit to conduct the organisational polls without any favouritism and in a transparent manner.

Addressing the district poll officer of Delhi BJP, Mr Singh said that those who are willing to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls must neither contest nor interfere in the organisational polls.

The schedule for Delhi BJP’s organisational polls was also announced in the meeting. The organisational poll will start from September 11 and end by December 15.

In a clear message, Mr Singh reportedly said that party leaders eyeing BJP ticket to contest the Assembly elections must stay away from the organisational

polls and similarly those willing to work for the organisation should only work to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming elections and not aspire to contest the elections.

Sharing his electoral success, Mr Singh advised that a strong organisation is the key to the party’s electoral success and hence it is crucial to draw a line between the two.

The meeting was attended by Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, general secretary (organisation) Siddharthan, head of organisational poll in the city unit Pawan Sharma, the newly appointed heads of organisational polls in 14 districts of the party, and senior office bearers.

According to party sources, Mr Siddharthan asked, in strong words, the Delhi BJP leaders not to indulge in nepotism during the poll process.

“Organisational polls must be held in most transparent and fair manner,” a senior party leader said quoting Mr Siddharthan.

It is learnt that the state and district level polls incharge are asked to examine each and every candidature for the organisational polls and ensure that relatives or immediate family members of a candidate do not ask for Assembly tickets and vice versa.

A senior party functionary said the direction came after it was learnt that the present team of office bearers in Delhi have been lobbying for party tickets for the Assembly polls.
