Mother sells daughter for `1 lakh, DCW rescues her

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The Delhi Commission for Women rescued a 15year-old girl who was sold for `1 lakh allegedly by her mother to a trafficker.

DCW said, on September 8, the victim’s mother told her that they were going to her sister’s place in Badarpur but instead took her to a hotel in Nizamuddin. After a settlement deal at the hotel, her mother told her that she has to go somewhere and a man named Shahid would take her home.

However, Shahid instead of taking her to her place, took her to his house at Ishwar Colony in Bawana Village. The girls at Shahid’s house told her to wear a wedding dress and get ready. On asking, they informed her that her mother had sold her off for `1 lakh and that she would now be sleeping with customers to recover the amount. However, within a day, she somehow managed to run away. She asked her neighbours for help, who called the DCW’s 181 Helpline.
