City cops bust illegal arms factory in Rajasthan, 4 held

Accused disclose they supplied firearms to criminal gangs in Delhi-NCR

In a major crackdown, the sleuths of Delhi police crime branch have busted an illegal gun manufactur­ing unit operating in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

The police said that they have arrested four persons and have also seized 10 country-made weapons and huge amount of material used in making weapons.

The accused have been identified as Talim Khan (25), Najar Hussain (33), Juber Khan (32), residents of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, and Nauman (35), a resident of Nuh in Haryana.

According to Dr Ajit Kumar Singla, additional commission­er of police, crime branch, on September 13 specific inputs were received that members of an illegal firearms syndicate would

come to Dwarka’s Chhalwa area for delivery of huge consignmen­t of illegal firearms to someone in Najafgarh area.

Acting on the inputs, a trap was laid and four members of the gang were apprehende­d on DwarkaChha­wla Road while they were travelling in their Swift car. On the spot, police also recovered 10 good quality .315 bore country-made pistols

along with 10 live rounds from the possession of the accused. A case under appropriat­e sections of law was registered and all four were arrested, said Dr Singla.

During interrogat­ion, the arrested accused disclosed that they had been supplying illegal firearms to various criminal gangs in Delhi and NCR region since the past four years, said Dr Singla.

At the instance of the accused persons, raid was conducted by the crime branch at top of Ghadijaan Pahadi in district Bharatpur, where an entire illegal arms manufactur­ing unit was unearthed.

The unit was located on the top of the Ghadijaan Pahadi, where anyone approachin­g the place could be seen from almost three kilometres away. The unit itself was well hidden inside a clump of trees and shrubs, said Dr Singla, adding that the unit was kept locked at all times and was opened only when the gang members assembled to manufactur­e weapons.

None of the arrested persons has a past criminal record. The criminals, who had procured the firearms from the gang, are being identified. Further investigat­ion is on, Dr Singla stated.
