Kirori Mal College reign supreme

Kirori Mal College emerged champions with seven gold, two silver and one bronze in the Delhi University Inter College Boxing Men and Women boxing championsh­ip at the Kirori Mal College Sports Complex in the capital on Sunday.

Akash, Ankush, Satyam, Ishmeet, Manvinder and Harsh clinched the gold for KMC while Ayush and Aaryavir took silver in the men’s competitio­ns. Rishabh was lone bronze medallist. Himani secured gold in the women’s 48kg category.

KMC boys secured 23 points whereas Dayal Singh College stood second with 14 points. Deshbandhu College came third with 6 points. In the women’s category Lakshmi Bai College became champion with 15 points, Jesus & Mary College secured second place with 11 points and Kalindi College stood third with 8 points. Total 14 Teams with 66 boxers in men category and 18 Teams with 83 boxers participat­ed in four days tournament.

The event was conducted under the aegis of Delhi University Sports Council. Its sports goods partner was Amitco, Shiv Naresh and Motto whereas the Technical Partner for the tournament was Delhi Amateur Boxing Associatio­n.

The championsh­ip was presided by the principal Dr. Vibha Singh Chauhan and graced by dignitarie­s like Olympian and Arjun Awardee boxer Dharmender, Delhi Amateur Boxing Associatio­n office bearers D.N. Yadav, Brij Mohan, Ram Khiladi Yadav, Kuldeep Vats, KMC boxing alumni and Asian champions Pradeep Kharera among others.
