Man, aide held after firing at sister’s father-in-law

Infuriated over his sister’s love marriage, a man allegedly shot at her father-in-law in Mukherjee Nagar area on Wednesday evening. The accused and his associate have been nabbed, police said.

The arrested accused was identified as Vikas (21) while his associate was identified as Mukesh (25). DCP (Northwest) Vijayanta Arya said that on Wednesday night, a PCR call was received that two persons with firearms have been apprehende­d at New Police Line.

The IO reached the spot and found two motorcycle­s in accidental condition and Vikas and Mukesh were apprehende­d on the spot by Delhi Armed Police staff.

During checking the bag of Vikas, two countrymad­e pistols with used cartridges and 4 live cartridges were recovered.

Further informatio­n was received about two injured persons from BJRM Hospital.

The injured father and son were identified as Inderjeet and his son Ved Prakash. Inderjeet received pellets injury on his back.

Ved parkash told the police that he along with his father was going on his bike when he noticed bullet sound and in the meantime a bike crossed their bike. He further stated that he noticed that the pillion rider was having a country-made pistol and had shot his father in the back.

The duo even opened fire at him but it missed after which they chased and nabbed the shooters.

Prakash further said that his elder brother Rohit had a love marriage with Vikas’s sister due to which he had enmity with their family and to take revenge, he opened fire upon them with intention to kill. Further investigat­ion is underway.
