Jawan killed in J&K gunbattle

Jammu: A soldier was killed in a gunbattle with terrorists who, aided by the cover fire by the Pakistan Army, tried to cross the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, a defence spokesman said.

An Indian Army soldier was killed on Friday during infiltrati­on bid by terrorists at Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A PTI news agency report said that the terrorists could be part of BAT team, who had infiltrate­d into this side of LoC to attack an Army listening post. On the night of 7-8 November 2019, Indian Army noticed “suspicious movement of terrorists” in the area along with ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army. The Indian Army ambushed the infiltrati­ng terrorists. “However, in the exchange of fire, Sepoy Rahul Bhairu Sulagekar sustained gunshot wounds

and was evacuated to a Medical Aid Centre wherein he was provided medical aid,” said a

spokespers­on. However, Sepoy Sulagekar succumbed to his injuries and died on Friday.
