Hema says monkeys prefer Frooti, samosas these days

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Lok Sabha on Thursday saw a quick discussion on monkey menace after BJP Member of Parliament from Mathura, Hema Malini raised the issue saying that the simians are getting violent because people are changing their natural food habits by giving them Frooti, samosas and even “Mathura ka peda” in her constituency. She even suggested having a ‘monkey safari’ to keep them in a restricted area to avoid man animal conflict.

She was backed by LJP MP Chirag Paswan who said that the situation is similar in Delhi’s Lutyens ‘zone where people are scared of stepping out of their homes. “Their terror

is such that children cannot play in gardens of their homes located in Lutyens’ Zone. People are forced to stay in homes. And all this is happening because we destroyed their homes. So, now they have entered homes,” said Paswan.

TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay also joined in and sought a long term solution to the monkey menace. He recounted that once a monkey snatched his spectacles in Haridwar and returned only after he was offered Footi by a shopkeeper.

While raising concerns over monkey menace in religious places like Vrinadavan, Mathura and Goverdhan, during the Zero Hour, Hema Malini said that the government should think of new ways of dealing with the simians.

“People in Vrindavan and Mathura in my constituency have been hit by the menace with monkeys snatching items from pilgrims. People are also giving them Frooti, samosas and even Mathura ka peda that has changed their food habits and instead of fruits, they now want samosas,” said Hema Malini.
