Lanka PM, 2 other foreign leaders to visit India soon
The next few days will see three visits by foreign leaders to India — Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Vietnamese VicePresident Ms Dang Thai Ngoc Thinh.
The Sri Lankan PM will reach New Delhi on Friday and will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. During the visit that will last till February 11, the Sri Lankan PM will also visit Varanasi, Sarnath, Bodh Gaya and Tirupati.
Meanwhile on Thursday, the MEA said, “The President of Portugal H.E. Mr Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will be paying a State visit to India from 13-16 February 2020 on the invitation of the President of India.

a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 14 February 2020 followed by a visit to Rajghat. The delegation level talks will be held with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House followed by a lunch. The President of India will meet the visiting President on 14 February 2020 and host a banquet in the honour of the visiting President. President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will also travel to the states of Maharashtra and Goa during his visit.
In another statement, the MEA said, “VicePresident of Vietnam Ms
Dang Thai Ngoc Thinh would be on an official visit to India from 11-13 February 2020. She will hold bilateral delegation level talks with the VicePresident of India. There would also be a call-on the President. During the visit of the Vice-President of Vietnam, the direct flight between India and Vietnam would be announced on 12 February 2020. After Delhi, the Vietnamese Vice-President is also scheduled to visit Bodh Gaya on 13 February 2020.”
The MEA added, “IndiaVietnam relations are built on the firm foundation of close cultural, historical, civilisational links and are marked by mutual trust and understanding as well as strong cooperation in regional and international fora. The visit of Vietnamese Vice-President would strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2016.
