He may be just one film old (London Babulu), but actor Rakshit Atluri has picked up a challenging role — that of playing a folklore artiste. “After my debut film, I was very conscious about doing a realistic film, and I am grateful that I was offered Palasa 1948,” explains Rakshit.

The actor, who hails from Vijayawada, will be seen as a member of dance troupes, as his character hails from a family of folk artistes in the Karuna Kumar directorial.

“The rustic drama is set in Palasa town revolves and around incidents that happened during 1978 and moves to 2018. I play Mohan Rao, and I will be seen in four different looks as my character evolves from the age of 18 to 60. Putting on and losing weight for the four characters, learning Srikakulam slang and practicing folklore songs were challenging,” explains the actor about the March 6 release.

The Dhyan Atluri production also touches on contemporary aspects that are plaguing society. “You need to watch out for those. The story is set against the backdrop of the cashew business, which is the main source of income of the people of Palasa,” Rakshit concludes.
