Sanjay’s shootout saga continues

-

As the industry is in lockdown with all shoots being shut from Thursday, filmmakers are taking the opportunity to buckle down and hone their writing skills. Sanjay Gupta — who had to take a break from shooting his film Mumbai Saga — is visiting another saga from his shootout series, which will be the first-ever gangster shootout trilogy in the film industry.

The first part of the shootout series — Shootout At Lokhandwala — was directed by Apoorva Lakhia and starred Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan along with Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi. The second part of the series was directed by Gupta himself and had Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee, Tusshar Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut in it. While Lakhia and Suresh Nair penned the first part, Sanjay Bhatia wrote the second as Milap Zaveri aided in the dialogues for Gupta for the second part Shootout At Wadala.

And now the third part of the shootout series has the Once Upon A Time in Mumbai series for which writer Rajat Arora is penning lines for Gupta.

Once Upon a Time…producer Ekta Kapoor is also the producer of the third part of the Shootout series with Gupta.

“This is a very interesting film around the last of the shootouts that took place in then Bombay before the gangs slowly vanished from the city. There was a time when gang wars and shootouts were the norm, as even gangsters had these shootouts in which they killed each other — notably the war between the Naik brothers Amar and Ashwin on one end and Arun Gawli on the other,” says our source.

“Gupta has been showing Mumbai in the olden days through his gang war stories. Even Mumbai Saga has a similar feel to it, where the mills are shut and are replaced by shopping complexes that sprung up then,” adds our source. Meanwhile, Gupta tweeted that he was in midst of the script session his film with Arora. Meanwhile Mumbai Saga — which will release this year — stars John Abraham, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar and Emraan Hashmi, among others. —Sanskriti Media also the for
