With the novel coronavirus scare wreaking havoc across the world, a few stars from Bollywood pledged funds and medical supplies to help the country combat the ongoing pandemic.

Hrithik Roshan has donated a sum of `20 lakh to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai to aid their efforts to tackle the coronavirus. It is to be noted that BMC is actually the richest corporation in Asia. Hrithik also organised the N95 as well as the FFP3 masks for the BMC.

Producer Manish Mundhra of films like Kamyaab, Masaan and Newton donated 1500 sets of N95 masks, gloves, shoe covers, goggles and GSM material overalls to government-run hospitals. Sonam Kapoor and her family donated monies for the cine workers as did Rajkumar Hirani, Karan Johar, Kiara Advani, Rakul Preet Singh, Taapsee Pannu, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sidharth Malhotra and

Ananand L Rai among others. Cine workers from the FWICE, whose dormant period from March 19 – March 31, has been extended by two more weeks due to the lockdown, have written to Amitabh Bachchan for help. Bachchan is known to financially help people in times of crisis from floods to wars but hasn’t made an announcement till now. “Incidentally, it is comedian Kapil Sharma who has donated `50 lakh to the PM’s relief fund who leads the list from Bollywood’s end. Bollywood superstars are still giving out fitness goals, workout videos and unlimited gyaan at the moment through their social media. This is the time to show how much they really care for the fans who have made them what they are. They earn in crores from these very fans and still they have not made any announcement thus far,” says a film industry veteran.
