BJD leader dies in bid to save 2 others

Bhubaneswar: In an shocking incident, three persons including a BJD leader and Berhampur Cooperative Society President Alekha Choudhury (69) died after a fire broke out at Choudhury’s house at Panigrahy Sahi in Goshani Nuagaon here late on Friday night. The other deceased were identified as Choudhury’s brother-in-law Bhagaban Patra (84) and domestic help Sunil Behera (19). The mishap took place at around 2.15 am. Sources said that the fire broke out due to short circuit in an air conditioner in the house. Mr Choudhury went to rescue some trapped people inside the house and died along with the two others due to asphyxiation.
