So far, contemporary Tollywood has seen online wars only between fans of male stars. But in what could possibly snowball into a new trend, T-wood is now witnessing social media warfare between supporters of leading ladies Pooja Hegde and Samantha Akkineni. Ardent fans of the two actresses have been indulging in a Twitter war, particularly after an alleged chat surfaced online. It all started when Pooja Hegde revealed on Twitter on Thursday morning that her Instagram account had been hacked. This was after a meme with a screenshot of Samantha’s photo from the film Majili and captioned, “Í don’t find her pretty.” emerged on Pooja’s Insta handle. Later, Pooja reported that her technical team had worked on it, and had identified the problem. However, by that time, the damage had been done. The controversial meme irked Sam’s fans, who started trending the hashtag #PoojaMust Apologize Samantha on Twitter.

During this time, what was more alarming was that a screenshot of an alleged chat among Samantha, Chinmayi Sripada and director Nandini Reddy on Instagram surfaced online. The supposed conversation among the three included sarcastic comments on hacking. Pooja’s fans felt that the comments were aimed at their favourite actress. Soon, they began to trend the hashtag #WeSupportPoojaHegde. Subsequently, some of the sarcastic posts were deleted Interestingly, Nandini Reddy later tweeted praising Sam for professionalism while singer Chinmayi posted, “Here are the reasons why I find Samantha Ruth Prabhu beautiful. P.S. there is no need to bully someone over an opinion. I forgot to add — She cheerleads a LOT of female actors and tweets about them :) This is a 100% Samantha appreciation post. All love. No hate.”
