Kangana is forced to wait until September before she can resume shooting. Here’s why

The slow easing of the lockdown has left makers of big films in a quandary over a bevy of rules and ‘dos and don’ts’ around what they should do while shooting movies. Besides a small crew, rules state that the film unit should have doctors, nurses and an ambulance in attendance during the entire period of the shoot.

One of the affected films, Thalaivi, starring Kangana Ranaut, had two large sets standing when the world went into a lockdown. Now, we learn that the film may not return to the floors immediately. A source close to the film production unit suggests this is because of the ambiguity around the lockdown reversal rules with respect to the film industry. “There needs to be a proper interpretation of the rules prescribed for shooting. Also, many feel it will be very difficult to get in place a small crew of 50 people for the kind of large film Thalaivi is,” the source says, adding, “Certain crowd sequences will require hundreds of people present in it, which is not possible in such situations. So, we do not think that the film’s shoot will be possible before September end or early October.” Incidentally, the multilingual Thalaivi is one of Kangana Ranaut’s dream projects. Kangana’s Tanu Weds Manu and Simran producer Shaailesh R Singh and Vishnu Vardan Induri are bankrolling Thalaivi. Given the situation, the actress, has been compelled to put her ambitious project on hold. Besides Thalaivi, Kangana has two films, Dhaakkad and Tejas, in her kitty. Tejas, is based on a female Indian Air Force pilot.
