According to Delhi health department data, of total cases 14,456 are active and 9,898 patients had recovered which includes 356 in last 24 hours. 22 deaths has reported during the period, however, cumulative death death toll has rise to 650. Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that the entire focus of his government is on saving lives of people and providing adequate facilities for Covid-19 patients who need hospital care. In a joint virtual press conference with Delhi Heath Minister Satyendar Jain, he also urged people who are infected by coronavirus but are asymptomatic to remain at home and isolate themselves. Mr Jain said an order had been issued to have 20 per cent beds reserved in 61 private hospitals.

Mr Sisodia said, “There are a few private hospitals which are facing difficulties in reserving 20% of their bed capacity for Covid-19 patients. If they do not agree to the Delhi govt directions to keep aside 20% of their bed capacity for treatment of Covid-19 patients, then we will have to convert them into fully dedicated Covid-19 hospitals.”

Mr Sisodia pointed that some of the private hospitals have followed the instructions in starting the mixed system (20 per cent bed reservation for covid 19), but others are facing problems in adhering to the same. “Those private hospitals which are facing difficulties in following the mixed system, will be completely converted into Covid designated hospitals. They have time till tomorrow. Moolchand, Gangaram and Saroj hospitals have been converted into fully Covid-19 hospitals,” Mr Sisodia added.

City health minister Satyendra Kumar Jain explained,“There are three types of Covid-19 patients. There are asymptomatic patients with no or very mild symptoms — with slight fever and mild cough. They can be treated and recover in home quarantine. The second category of patients have moderate symptoms with a respiratory rate of more than 15 within a minute. And then there are ones with severe symptoms.

A record single-day spike of 1,513 fresh cases took the Covid tally in Delhi to beyond 23,000mark on Wednesday and the death toll due to the disease climbed to 606, authorities said.
