Gaga to mentor Billie?
After several trials and tribulations, Lady Gaga has successfully made a mark in the world. Having realised how difficult stardom can be, the Bad Romance hitmaker revealed that she offered her mentorship to the music industry’s latest obsession Billie Eilish.
After the 18-year-old singer collected five Grammy Awards in January this year, Gaga sent the Bad Guy singer flowers to let her know that she is there for
her. In an interview with Apple Music, the singeractor said that she made the sweet gesture as she herself did not have an older female mentor in the industry.
“For me, it’s healing because it hurt me that I didn’t get that. I’m going to be that for someone else,” she said. “I’ve had a harder time with -older women in terms of having a female-mentor. Other than Celine Dion and Carole King, it’s proven difficult to have someone who would show me the way. So I really hope that young female artists – or young artists of any gender identity or sexual identity – will know that I am rooting for them,” she said.
Luckily, Elton John had come to Gaga’s rescue when she started to ‘feel like a robot’ due to the pressures of the industry. “Elton’s been my mentor for a long time. He’s always challenged me to keep my head above water and he knows when I’m down. Elton’s always challenged me to take care of my artistry and to take care of myself, I really honour that about him. He is so uniquely special,” says the Shallow singer.
