THE DAILY COVID count has topped 50K, several days running. A vociferous leadership famously shut down the entire nation only to freeze stiff when it came to reopening the economy. Stunned at the explosive spread, it has now gone silent. Inputs and assistance to government hospitals has dwindled. We are too misguided a nation to prioritise public health spend, now at a mere 1.2 per cent of GDP. That being so, leaders find pragmatism in moving to private care.
