Udhaya’s short catches the eye

He has experimented with his looks and the megaphone

-

Actor Udhaya, who is presently busy with films like Agni Natchathiram and Maanaadu, is making his debut as a director. The actor recently directed and produced a short film titled Security, where he takes the avatar of a 65year-old man.

Speaking to DC, Udhaya said, “The news of the killing of soldier Palani from Ramanathapuram during the India-China face-off in eastern Ladakh recently disturbed me a lot. That’s how I got the idea of making a short film as a tribute to him and in general to those military personnel who strive at the border for our safety.”

He adds, “After penning the script, I wanted to give wielding the megaphone a try. We shot the 20minute short in a day’s time. My house and office were the locations for the short film.”

So, what’s the film all about, we ask.

“It has got nothing to do with the Army or any such thing. I wanted to make use of the digital space more meaningfully during the quarantine,”he says, adding, “Security is an entertaining film with a relevant message for society.”

While Komal Sharma will be seen as the leading lady, Udhaya’s little son Jaeshan will also be seen in a crucial role.

Several ace filmmakers, including Bharathiraja, Bhagyaraj and actor Vivekh have heaped praise on Udhaya for experimenting with his looks and also his directorial skills after watching Security. The film will hit the YouTube on Wednesday.
