Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj passed on 17th August. Restricted as they were by the pandemic protocols etc., well- known musicians, family members of the musician and his followers, however, got online across various social media platforms, to pay homage to the legendary artist.
Sunita Budhiraja, who has authored several books including Rasraj Pandit Jasraj and was associated with Panditji for over 38 years, added to the solemnity of the occasion. She collaborated with shehnai player Lokesh Anand, Panditji’s disciple, to bring together on the social media platform many from the music and spiritual fields, who’ve had long associations with Panditji, to remember the legend and his contributions in the field of classical music.
Another online tribute by Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture ( SPIC MACAY), which had a very long association with Pandit Jasraj, saw nearly 22,000 live listeners from across the globe logging in to pay their homage.
