‘ NEP will make India global leader in S& T’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged the youth to be future ready and future fit, and said that their dreams and aspirations would shape the future of India.
Addressing the 22nd convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT), Guwahati through video- conferencing on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said: “I firmly believe that the future of a nation is what its youth
thinks today, your dreams are going to shape the reality of India. This is time to be future- ready.”
Lauding the efforts of the IITs in contributing towards making the country self- reliant in spite of the difficulty in conducting academic sessions and continuing research work during the pandemic, the Prime Minister said that the National Education
Policy 2020 is meant for the needs of the 21st century and to make India a global leader in science and technology. Mr Modi pointed out that the NEP 2020 has been made multi- disciplinary and offers flexibility of choosing various courses and allows multiple entry and exit points.
He asserted that the NEP also proposes a National Research Foundation for better coordination with all funding agencies regarding research funding and provide funds for all disciplines.
