Thappad actress Taapsee Pannu receives Smita Patil Memorial Award

Taapsee Pannu, who has been making headlines for the last few days over her statements, has a good reason to rejoice. The actress has been awarded the Smita Patil Memorial Award by Priyadarshini Academy’s 36th Anniversary Global Awards this year. Taapsee has received the award in an online ceremony for her contribution to Hindi cinema. “It is a sheer moment of pride to be best owed with such an honourable award and felt indebted towards the academy for this distinguished recognition,” says Taapsee. The Pink actress further expressed that she shall continue to be the torchbearer of the rich legacy set by her predecessor in the film fraternity. “I shall persistently work towards the upliftment of the parallel cinema movement in India that stands out as a beacon of hope to the future generation,” she adds.
