Pooja Jhaveri on Bangaru Bullodu
The actress talks about her forthcoming comic drama, and co-star Allari Naresh
Actress Pooja Jhaveri says her co-star’s (Allari Naresh) earlier films were one of the first Telugu movies that she watched in the theatres.
“When I went to Hyderabad to shoot my first film, one of his movies was the first Telugu film I watched in the theatres. He is a very silent and focused artiste, someone who is quite different from the characters he portrays on screen,” says Pooja.
As for Bangaru Bullodu, the actress says that the title says it all. “Bangaru Bullodu means a man with golden heart. It’s a complete village story about a guy. It’s a romcom filled with hilarious scenes and is all about fun. It’s my first project with Allari Naresh and the experience on set has been amazing,” she shares. The actress, who hails from Gujarat, finds teething issues in Gujarati films rather than in Tollywood. There are a few challenges, since the Gujarati film industry is comparatively new. However, Pooja says, “Role-wise, I don’t feel there is any major difference. It’s just that in the south the scripts have more variations in the characterisation while those in Gujarati are mainly family dramas.”
Preparing for south films is a tad different for Pooja.
“It really depends on the characters I am offered and the depth each holds. I work on understanding the character and moulding the requisite traits in myself. I concentrate on the accent and dialogue delivery. Once I understand the character, I work towards a promising performance,” explains Pooja, who has also signed Echo opposite Srikanth.
About Bollywood, she says, “Of course, there are a lot of scripts that come to me and when things materialise, I will let everyone know,” says Pooja. — Sankriti Media
