Rahman’s initiative to elevate India’s talent

Futureproo­f show cases Indian creativity & innovation on the global stage

A.R. Rahman who started Ta Futures, an initiative focused on capturing the culture of Tamil Nadu and giving it new creative expression, on his last birthday, has now come out with yet another creative venture called Futureproo­f. Through this, the double Oscarwinni­ng composer seeks to push the boundaries of Indian cinema globally. A statement from the musician’s spokespers­on reads, “A.R. Rahman has launched Futureproo­f, an initiative to represent Indian creativity and innovation on the global stage. Uniting multi-faceted creative icons from across the world, it is a highimpact series designed to elevate and amplify the country’s diverse talent across the streams of art, science, and entreprene­urship.”

The first instalment of the series deals with the future of cinema and provides an insight into the processes that control the representa­tion of Indian cinema internatio­nally, the statement adds.

“The dialogue is curated by the celebrated filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and it features AcademyAwa­rd-winning filmmaker Nick Vallelonga and renowned acting educator/writer Bernard Hiller as well as a host of distinguis­hed Indian filmmakers from diverse styles, innovation­s, and traditions of cinema — including Zoya Akhtar, Nandita Das, Anubhav Sinha, Hansal Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Geetu Mohandas, and many more,” the statement says. “In the upcoming editions, it will bring together the world’s most inspiring creative minds from the fields of music, entreprene­urship, technology and pop culture,” it further added.
