India’s daily Covid deaths below 150 for last 10 days

In a significan­t achievemen­t, India’s daily death toll due to Covid-19 has been less than 150 continuous­ly for the last 10 days and in the last 24 hours, only 84 deaths were reported.

According to the Union health ministry, 17 states and Union Territorie­s have not reported any death in the last 24 hours. These are Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Lakshadwee­p, Ladakh, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, JammuKashm­ir, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Assam. Besides 33 States/UTs have less than 5000 active cases.

The health ministry officials said the effective strategy of containmen­t including prompt tracing and tracking, aggressive and widespread testing, combined with standardiz­ed clinical management protocols have ensured the low mortality levels, in addition to consistent low daily positive cases.

“As part of the Covid management and response policy, there has been a sharp focus of the Central Government on not only containing the Covid related fatality but to reduce deaths and to save lives by providing quality clinical care to the critical and severe patients of COVID-19,” officials added.

On Monday the 11, 831 fresh cases of novel coronaviru­s were reported. States like Andhra Pradesh that were reporting a high number of cases till a month back on Monday had 73 new detections while Odisha had 72, Rajasthan 75, Haryana 67, Assam 8, Uttarakhan­d 15, Jharkhand 38.

India has so far vaccinated 60,35,660 persons out of which 54,12,270 are healthcare workers and 6,23,390 are frontline workers.

India becomes the fastest country to vaccinate 6 million people and the third topmost country with maximum vaccinatio­ns.
