2 hired to kill human rights activist held in R.K. Puram

Two miscreants, both residents of Punjab, were arrested in R.K. Puram area. They were conspiring to kill an activist who speaks on Kashmir. Two pistols, two countrymad­e guns, and four live bullets were recovered from them. The seized pistol is of the kind manufactur­ed in Pakistan.

The accused have been identified as Sukwinder Singh (25), a resident of Faridkot, and Lakhan (21), a resident of Kotpura. According to DCP (Southwest district) Ingit Pratap Singh, both of them are acquaintan­ces and were sent to Delhi at the behest of one person identified as Prince alias Lutti.

“They were promised `10 lakh cash if they assassinat­ed one Sushil Pandit, who is a human rights activist and CLO of Hive Communicat­ions India Pvt. Ltd. The duo also revealed that they were provided with four pistols, two of which are country-made, along with four cartridges, and one mobile phone containing the photograph of Sushil Pandit,” said the DCP in a statement issued on Saturday.

“While they were on the lookout for a rented accommodat­ion in Southwest district they were nabbed by the local police of R.K. Puram police station on specific inputs,” said the DCP.

“A case under Sections 25/54/29 of the Arms Act and Sections 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) and 115 (abetment of offence punishable with death or imprisonme­nt for life) of the IPC has been registered in R.K. Puram police station,” said the DCP adding that further investigat­ion is going on.
