NIA arrests Kazi, a close aide of Waze
Mumbai: The National Investigation Agency on Sunday arrested Assistant Police Inspector Riyaz Kazi, a close aide of arrested API Sachin Waze, in connection with Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case and Mansukh Hiren murder case. The NIA has alleged that Kazi is a co-conspirator in the Ambani case.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), on Sunday, arrested assistant police inspector Riyaz Kazi, a close aide of arrested API Sachin Waze, in connection with the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case and the Mansukh Hiren murder case. The police has alleged that Kazi is a coconspirator in the Ambani case. A holiday court remanded Kazi to NIA custody till April 16.
According to sources, the probe agency suspects that Kazi destroyed important evidence like fake number plates and digital video recorder (DVR) of the society where Sachin Waze resides. Kazi was seen in several garages where he got fake number plates made and later confiscated the DVRs from all the garages and destroyed them.
The NIA has already questioned Kazi in connection with his case in the past but now he has been arrested for custodial interrogation.
Earlier, on Friday, the NIA had recorded the statement of Mahesh Shetty, a bar owner who is close to Sachin Waze, in connection with the murder case.
Waze was transferred to the Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC) at the Mumbai police headquarters from the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) after his name cropped up in the Mansukh Hiren murder case.
