Bharucha takes inspiration from domestic help for role in movie Ajeeb Daastaans

Four films in the pipeline

Nushrratt Bharucha is gearing up for her next release, Ajeeb Daastaans, where she is playing Meenal, a domestic help.

Since this is a first for Nushrat, she took inspiration from her own house help, to get under the skin of the character. “I started observing my own domestic helper, to understand her mannerisms and characteristics. She was a great reference point for me and unknowingly, she helped me tremendously to get a deeper understanding of my character in Ajeeb Daastaans," says the actress.

"Meenal's story is that of an ordinary girl who is struggling to make ends meet, and provide the best for herself and her sister. I felt a similarity between Meenal and my helper, who is working hard to provide for her son with all the opportunities she can. I absolutely adore her because of her spirit of fighting hard with a sweet smile on her face always." Nushrat says.

"For the three-four hours she spends at our home, she makes us feel comfortable with her banter. And that is what I wanted my character to portray in the film,” reveals the actress.

Apart from Ajeeb Daastaans, the actress has Hurdang, Chorii, Janhit Mein Jaari and Ram Setu in the pipeline.
