NEW HERITAGE THREAT
The latest move by the government, ostensibly through the court route, to reopen the Gyanvapi chapter is yet another manifestation of divisive majoritarian politics. A new threat to our heritage has emerged. It comes at a time when the country is grappling the worsening pandemic and a downslide in the economy. One wonders what purpose such an exercise will serve other than proving to the minority community that even a sacred place like the Kashi Vishwanath temple can be used as a weapon against them. The game will now take its own tortuous path. The antagonism is not likely to end soon, there is still Mathura to follow.
