- SUNIL THAPLIYAL

Clearing the confusion over the weekend curfew restrictions, the Delhi government on Friday said those who have a valid night curfew e-pass are not required to obtain a separate pass for the weekend curfew. Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had Thursday announced a curfew from this weekend and the closure of malls, gyms and auditoriums till April 30 as part of sweeping restrictions to break the chain of the infection. During this weekend curfew in the city, shopping malls, auditoriums, restaurants, gyms and spas remain shut till further orders, while cinema theatres will be allowed to screen movies with 30 per cent of their seating capacities on weekdays.

Dine-in facilities at all restaurants and eateries in the city will be barred, but home delivery of food shall be allowed, on the condition of strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.

“The e-pass possessed by a person for movement connected to essential goods and services during night curfew shall also be valid for weekend curfew period,” read a statement

issued by the DDMA on Friday.

A notice on the Delhi government website also said: “If you already hold a night-curfew ePass, you DO NOT have to reapply for the weekend curfew. Your pass shall automatically be considered valid during the weekend (in daytime).”

Shops dealing with foods, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, meat and fish, pharmaceuticals, medicines and medical equipment; banks, insurance offices and ATMs; the print and electronic media; telecommunications, Internet services, broadcasting and cable services, IT and IT-enabled services will be open. The delivery of all essential goods, including food, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, through e-commerce is allowed. Those providing essential services will need to produce e-passes upon request.

Power generation, distribution staff, people associated with cold storage services, private security services shall be allowed. No restrictions will be imposed on all persons who are going for Covid vaccinations.

Cinema halls will open with one-third of their seating capacity on all weekdays, but remain shut on the weekends, according to an order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.
