Delhi CM goes into Isolation after wife tests corona +ve

NEW DELHI, APRIL 20: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife tested positive for Covid19 on Tuesday.

The chief minister’s wife Sunita Kejriwal has tested positive and is under home isolation, a Delhi government official said.

Mr Kejriwal has also quarantine­d himself, he added.

Last year, around June, Mr Kejriwal had reported to have Covid-19 symptoms, but tested negative for coronaviru­s.

Earlier, the 51 year-old leader was suffering from fever for a past few days and he went on self-isolation on Monday in anticipati­on of contractin­g the virus.

Meanwhile, appealing to people to stay at home during the six-day lockdown in Delhi amid the spiralling Covid crisis, Mr Kejriwal on Tuesday said the decision was taken in view of their health and safety.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has gone into self-quarantine after developing sore throat and fever, officials said on Monday. The 51-year-old chief minister, who is also a diabetic, was feeling unwell since Sunday afternoon.

“As the chief minister is unwell, he has gone into self-isolation. He has sore throat and cough. He will get himself tested for Covid-19 tomorrow,” deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said during an online media briefing. Earlier officials said Kejriwal has also developed mild fever.

On Sunday morning, the CM held a cabinet meeting at his official residence which was attended by many ministers, including Sisodia, Environmen­t Minister Gopal Rai, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, officials said.
